As a counsellor, I specialise in:

  • anxiety disorders and OCD

  • chronic illness management

  • animal companion loss and grief.

I teach courses and facilitate support groups, in person and online via teleconference, specialising in:

  • meditation

  • mindfulness

  • understanding and overcoming panic attacks and agoraphobia.

As an experienced group facilitator, I am passionate about the healing power of groups. Through groups we learn that others have feelings and experiences similar to our own. This eases feelings of isolation. Groups may also provide emotional and social support, and a sense of community. All of these factors strengthen our resilience in challenging times.

Through the sharing of experiences, and the telling of personal stories, people can heal and transform their lives. I have worked for over two decades helping people who are socially isolated to tell and write their life stories, including people in nursing homes, those who are housebound, and women in prison.

My own writing has been published in various publications, including in an anthology of Greek-Australian women writers called, Re-telling the tale: Poetry and prose by Greek-Australian women writers.

I am passionate about animal rights and raising awareness of the human and other species bond. In 2002, as a result of writing my booklet The loss of an animal friend, I was invited to join the committee of the pioneering group AGAPE, one of the first organisations in Australia that aimed to increase awareness of the legitimate grief that is felt on the loss of a beloved animal companion. In this position, I worked alongside veterinarians, counsellors and academics, to raise community awareness, and provide support to the bereaved.

I have a deep commitment to working towards social justice and equal rights for all living beings, and my counselling work is always informed by this principle.

Counselling modalities used:
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Existential therapy
  • Feminist therapy
  • Narrative therapy
